The Summer Semester FASET Orientation program for first-year students and their parents/guests is a full two-day program designed to orient students, parents, and guests to the Georgia Tech community. FASET is designed to acclimate new students and their families to what it means to be a Yellow Jacket. During the session, you will become better acquainted with the academic environment at Tech, the support services available, the rich traditions, and the campus itself. You will receive all of the information and resources to help you make a successful summer transition. In addition, you'll meet other new Tech students, campus student leaders, faculty, and administrators. You won't want to miss out on FASET. Registration will open up May 15th at 10 AM eastern. Medical Immunization Requirements
All students entering Georgia Tech MUST submit their REQUIRED IMMUNIZATION FORMS to satisfy the Board of Regents immunization requirements. It is highly recommended that the requirements be completed with your family physician or at Stamps Health Services prior to starting classes. All immunization requirements and the associated forms may be found at www.health.gatech.edu under “Immunization Requirements”. Please read all the information carefully and submit the forms by the due date shown. Students will not be able to drop/add or register for future classes if the immunization requirements are not satisfied. If you are attending a FASET session and are lacking any of the requirements, Stamps Health Services will be happy to administer any or all of the required immunizations. Please call 404-385-4995 for an appointment. Payment is expected at the time of service for the administration of the immunizations. Our price list is located on the above webpage.
The cost for summer semester orientation for students is $215. This includes all FASET materials, Day 1 lunch & dinner, Day 2 breakfast, GT T-Shirt, R.A.T.S. Week and Welcome Home Month activities.
Guests are an additional $105 per person. This includes all FASET materials, Parent Handbook, Parent Calendar, Day 1 lunch & Day 2 breakfast.
If a student does not register for a FASET session 15 business days before the session, they will need to complete walkup registration on the day of the session and will incur a $25 fee for each person registered.
Please note that the HOPE scholarship and other scholarships do not cover the cost of the orientation fee. Your FASET fee will be placed onto your Student Account and due with your other student fees. Please visit the Bursars Office Web site for the fee payment calendar.
All cancellations must be made in writing at least fifteen (15) business days in advance for refund of the registration fee less a $25 administration fee. To request a refund, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are not planning to enroll at Georgia Tech, please update your application via www.admission.gatech.edu/cancel. Canceling your application with the Office of Admission will not automatically cancel your FASET registration. You must follow both processes.
Lodging and Hotel Information
On-Campus Housing During FASET
Summer First-Year students attending Summer First-Year FASET and living on-campus can move into their residence hall assignments the night prior to orientation. Please see the Housing web site for more information.
Students that do not have a summer housing assignment will stay in on-campus housing. Lodging the night of the session is included in the student registration fee.
Local Hotels and Accommodations
FASET does not provide housing for parents or guests. If you need overnight accommodations please refer to one of our list of Atlanta area hotels.
Summer First-Year FASET Student Schedule
Our two-day first-year orientation schedule allows new students numerous opportunities to learn how to be a successful Yellow Jacket in and out of the classroom. Plan to begin orientation at 8 AM on Day 1 in the Student Center, followed by evening and nighttime programming. Continue and stay until 6 PM on Day 2 for academic advising, course registration, and additional presentations. Do not make plans on Day 2 which will prevent you from staying until 6 PM (as course registration could run as long as 6 PM).
Summer First-Year Parent and Guest Schedule
Our two-day family schedule allows for more interaction between first-year students and their family members and guests. Family members will also receive additional information on how they can support their first-year student in being a successful Yellow Jacket in and out of the classroom. Plan to begin orientation at 8 AM on Day 1, continue into the early evening until 6 PM. Day 2 programming will being at 7:30 AM with a schedule that includes academic advising; a variety of tours, and additional meetings and presentations designed specifically for parents.. Do not make plans on Day 2 which will prevent you from staying until 6 PM (as course registration can run as late as 6 PM).
Parent and Guest Orientation
Parent and Guest Orientation runs separately from the student program, focusing on a variety of topics of interest to parents of new students. Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to:
- Attend presentations on academic success, financial matters, housing, parking, campus safety, and much more
- Participate in a campus resources fair
- Meet with other parents of first-year students attending FASET
- Attend break-out sessions designed for your individual needs
- Meet with key campus administrators during our Parents Program reception
- Attend departmental orientation/academic advising session with your student
