FASET (Familiarization and Adaptation to the Surroundings and Environs of Tech) has been a Georgia Tech tradition since 1971. Transfer FASET helps new transfer students and their families and guests prepare for the Georgia Tech experience. It’s your first step toward a successful transition to Tech.
FASET is your opportunity to build connections and confidence before your first semester at Georgia Tech. You’ll meet fellow new Yellow Jackets, faculty, staff, and campus leaders, and learn about the resources, opportunities, and support available to help you succeed. You’ll also meet with an academic advisor, register for your first-semester classes, and complete important enrollment steps.
Families and guests will gain insight into the student experience and learn how Georgia Tech supports students academically, socially, and personally throughout their time at Tech.

Useful Information
GT 2000 Transfer Seminar
GT 2000 is a one-credit hour, letter graded seminar course offered in fall, spring, and summer semesters. The course is committed to supporting the successful transition and experience of new Georgia Tech students. Each section meets one hour per week and is taught by either an academic faculty member, credentialed staff member, or an administrator with an advanced degree. Getting Involved on Campus
If students were involved on their last campus and want to stay involved at Tech, please visit Georgia Tech's Engage for recognized student organizations. There will also be a time to meet new organizations during Week of Welcome. This happens every fall semester.

Greek Organizations
Transfer students can stay involved in or join fraternities and sororities at Tech.
- If you’re already a member and your organization has a chapter at Georgia Tech, contact the chapter president. You can find chapter contacts on the Fraternity and Sorority Life website or by contacting the office directly. Your national organization can also explain its transfer or affiliation process.
- If your organization doesn’t have a chapter at Georgia Tech, most national organizations and councils don’t allow members to join a different organization in the same council. Contact Fraternity and Sorority Life to learn which options are available to you.
- If you’ve never been a member, you can join through the same recruitment and intake processes as first-year students.
Disability Services
To receive accommodations at Georgia Tech, register with the Office of Disability Services. Start an application through the AIM portal, submit documentation of your disability, and meet with a Disability Service Coordinator to create your accommodation plan. If you received accommodations at your previous school, you’ll still need to register with Georgia Tech. Contact the office if you have questions about the process.
Veterans Services
Georgia Tech’s Veterans Resource Center supports student veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their dependents.
Co-ops and Internships
The Georgia Tech Career Center helps students gain work experience through co-ops and internships, prepare for full-time jobs after graduation, and build career skills through workshops and advising.
CareerBuzz is Georgia Tech’s online platform for co-op, internship, and full-time job postings, on-campus interviews, and career fairs. It’s also where you apply to the co-op and internship programs.
- Co-ops: Co-op students alternate semesters of full-time work and on-campus study, for a total of three work semesters. Students keep their active student status during work terms. To start a co-op, you need at least three academic semesters remaining.
- Internships: Internships can be full time (at least 36 hours per week) or part time (at least 10 hours per week). Most are paid, though some are unpaid or offer a stipend. Students may complete more than one internship.
- Eligibility: You’ll need a GPA of 2.0 or higher, good academic standing, and a completed Experiential Learning Application in CareerBuzz.
Until you earn a Georgia Tech GPA after your first semester, CareerBuzz will show a temporary 3.0 GPA so you can apply to the co-op and internship programs. Your first semester is spent in classes, so your second semester is the earliest you can start a co-op or internship.
If you completed a co-op term at your previous school, check with a Career Center advisor to see whether it can count toward Georgia Tech’s program.
