FASET is an acronym for "Familiarization and Adaptation to the Surroundings and Environs of Tech," a program that has been a Tech tradition since 1971. It is the first step in making a successful transition to Tech.

Transfer FASET is designed to prepare new transfer students- as well as their families and guests- for the Georgia Tech experience. You will meet current students, faculty, and administrators; register for fall classes; and become better acquainted with the campus, and learn about Tech's rich history, deep traditions, and phenomenal spirit. You won't want to miss out on FASET!

Please email transitionprograms@studentlife.gatech.edu or call (404) 894-6897 with questions.

Useful Information

GT 2000 Transfer Seminar

GT 2000 is a one-credit hour, letter graded seminar course offered in fall and spring summer semesters. The course is committed to supporting the successful transition and experience of new Georgia Tech students. Each section meets one hour per week and is taught by either an academic faculty member or an administrator with an advanced degree. For more information visit the program's website.

Admissions

For students interested in transferring to Georgia Tech, please visit Tech Transfer Admission page for more information.

Getting Involved on Campus

If students were involved on their last campus and want to stay involved at Tech, please visit Georgia Tech's Engage for recognized student organizations. There will also be a time to meet new organizations during Engagement Week. This happens every fall semester.

Students can also get connected to other transfer students by joining the Transfer Student Association. Visit their Facebook page for more information.

Greek Organizations

Transfer students can stay involved or get involved in Greek organizations when they enroll at Tech. If a student is an active member of an organization that has a chapter here, she/he/they should connect with the chapter president. This information can be found on the Fraternity and Sorority Life website or by contacting the office directly. She/He/They can also reach out to the national organization to find out what the transfer/affiliation process is.

If the student is an active member of a fraternity/sorority that does NOT have a chapter at Georgia Tech, they are not allowed to join a different fraternity/sorority. A person may only hold membership in one fraternity/sorority during their lifetime.

If a student wants to join, and has never been a member of a fraternity/sorority, all opportunities for them are the same as they are for first year students.

Disability Services

In order to receive accommodations at Georgia Tech, students will need to register with the Office of Disability Services. To register, students need to submit a Request for Services form and disability documentation. If you received accommodations at your previous institution please contact the Office for instructions on how to proceed.

Veterans Services

Georgia Tech has a Veterans Resource Center for active military, veterans, and dependents students on campus.

Co-ops and Internships

Georgia Tech Career Center is part of the Office of Undergraduate Education with focus on experiential education (co-ops and internships), resources to help students land a full-time job upon graduation, and career development workshops and career counseling resources from first year through graduation, helping students transition from student to professional, from college to career.

CareerBuzz is the on-line platform for co-op/internship postings, on-campus interviewing, full-time job postings, campus career fair events, and where you apply to the co-op/internship program.

Co-ops alternate semesters between on-campus study and full-time employment. Co-ops are classified as full-time students during each term, regardless of whether they are attending classes on campus or working full-time at an employer location. Most undergrad co-op students begin the program as sophomores. Co-op work terms are completed with the same employer.

Internships can be with the same employer over multiple semesters or with different employers. Internships can be full-time or part-time and are paid.

Until you receive your Georgia Tech GPA after your first semester, you will be granted a temporary 3.0 GPA in CareerBuzz, which enables you to apply for the co-op/internship program and then after approval to apply for co-op or internship positions. First semester on campus you will be in class; your second semester is the earliest you could co-op or intern. If a student successfully completed a co-op term at a previous school, check with a career development advisor to see if it will transfer to Tech.
